Bertha Ruth Tyler Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Mrs. Bertha Ruth Tyler, 85, passed on Friday, May 17, 2013 at Vidant Medical Center, Greenville, NC. She was born on March 20, 1928 in Bertie County, North Carolina, to the late Otelia Veale and Cornelius Askew. She was married to the late Pinmon Tyler of Lewiston, NC for many years. Bertha was educated in the North Carolina public school system. She was employed for several years by Hamilton Beach, Washington, NC as a Machine Operator before retiring. She was a long term member of Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church of Windsor, NC. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Ersey Askew Cowan, Rosa Askew Eaton, William Askew, Melvin Askew and half brother Edward J. Cowan. She was also preceded in death by her children, Robert Tyler, Cecil Tyler, John Tyler, Bertha Taylor and Geraldine Taylor. Left to cherish fond memories are her daughters, Patricia Eaton of Murfreesboro, NC and Essie Tyler of Ahoskie, NC; sons, Pinmon Larry Tyler and Terry Tyler both of Lewiston, NC; sisters, Tattie Mettie West and Leora Cowan both of Lewiston, NC; half sisters, Dorothy Godley and Louise Mitchell both of New York; a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.
