Robert Earley
January 3, 1938 - April 11, 2013
Robert “Flutee” Earley, was born to the late Lomax and Rosebud Walton Earley on January 3, 1938 in Hertford County. He was educated in the schools of Hertford County. He was a faithful member of Elm Grove Baptist Church and served as a Deacon, on the Usher Board, and served any where he was needed. Robert was the first Black to collect and sell tickets at the Earl Theater. He worked in Winton, North Carolina where he retired from the Hertford County Maintenance Department after 30 or more years. After his retirement he stayed and cared for his aunt and worked with Alpha Security for a while until his health began to fail. He was also a Mason, Jerusalem #96, Ahoskie, North Carolina. He was a sweet and kindhearted man and was always willing to lend a helping hand. He will be missed by many. Cherishing his memory are his two brothers, George “Bob” Earley of Cofield, North Carolina, Otis “Rat” Earley of Ahoskie, North Carolina; one son, Randolph Finch of Baltimore, Maryland; a special great-niece whom he claimed as his daughter, many other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
