Harriet Jordan Davis

Harriet Jordan Davis was born January 4, 1937, in Ahoskie, NC, to the late Cordy Jordan Sr. and Anna Christine Weaver Jordan. She passed away peacefully on April 24, 2022, with her family by her side. Harriet graduated salutatorian of her class from C.S. Brown High School, Winton, NC, in 1954. After high school she continued her studies and received her B.S. degree from Hampton University. In 1957 Harriet married the late Milton E. Davis of Norfolk, VA. In 1965 she moved to New Jersey and followed her passion and was a high school math teacher at Dunellen High School. After 35 years of teaching, Harriet retired and relocated to Richmond, VA, in October of 2000, shortly after the passing of her husband. Along with being committed to her immediate family and friends, Harriet found a church home at Mt Olive Baptist Church, Glen Allen, VA, in 2001. Harriet’s memories of happiness include bus trips to casinos and attending Hampton University homecomings (“Hamptonian” was one of her favorite words). She also enjoyed counting on the finance committee at Church, watching basketball/football games and spending time with her family. She was a member of the National Association of University Women (Richmond Branch), and Richmond Henrico Retired Teachers Association. She was preceded in death by her parents, Cordy Jordan Sr. and Anna Christine Jordan; brother, Mccoy Jordan Sr.; and her husband that she adored, Milton E. Davis. She leaves to cherish her memory three daughters and two loving sons-in-law; Millicent Barclay-Davis (Thomas) of Richmond, VA, Joan Davis of Youngstown, OH, and Kimberly McNeil (Lawrence) of Richmond, VA; five granddaughters, Farrah Nicole Brown (Ronald), Danielle Barclay, Laura Barclay, Antoinette Barclay and Dominique McNeil; one loving grandson who she treasured dearly, Jaleen McNeil of Richmond, VA; eight great-grandchildren, devoted cousins, Lloyd, Portia and Leslie Jones of Glen Allen, VA; one brother, Cordy Jordan Jr. of Ahoskie, NC; and one sister, Janet Pointsette (loving brother in law Samuel) of Engelwood, NJ; along with a host of nieces and nephews who she cherished dearly. In lieu of flowers all donations can be made to Hampton University Endowed Scholarship Fund in the memory of Harriet Davis.
