Mary White

Mary Jean was born, August 4, 1953 to Sandy McGuire, Jr. and Jennie R. Wade McGuire in Halifax, North Carolina. She departed this life on March 19, 2014. Mary was married to Francis White on September 13, 1998. At an early age she joined Crowell Missionary Baptist Church. She was a choir member, Women’s Ministry, formed and managed the singing group of young men (her grandsons and sons) “The Blessed Five”. She loved children, always smiling. One of her many talents was sewing. She made outfits, curtains, bedspreads, chair covers and more. If it’s made of cloth, she could put it together. She also loved putting puzzles together. Mary worked at Paul Bruce Sewing Factory, Whitakers, North Carolina; Westpoint Stevens, Roanoke Rapids; Paul Bruce, Scotland Neck, North Carolina; Edgecombe Manufacturing, Tarboro, North Carolina; Perdue, Robinsville, North Carolina and last employment was at Davis Kids College, Ahoskie, North Carolina. Mary attended Scotland Neck High, attended Halifax Community College, received an Associate Degree from Roanoke-Chowan College (Ahoskie, NC) in Early Childhood Education. She leaves to cherish her memories: husband, Francis White; children: Shelley Pippens (Cliff) of Tarboro, NC, Willie Wiggins of Rocky Mount, NC, Martavas Wiggins and Emmanual White of the home, and Aleric C. White (Scooby) of Atlantic City, NJ; granddaughters: Naishell, Gernika and Endyah; grandsons: Xavier, Hakeem, Meshon and Almad; three great granddaughters: Aaniyah, Charlie and Chrisy; her special children that she kept as her own: Keekee, Kaylie and Kaden; mother, Jennie W. McGuire of Halifax, NC; sisters and brothers, Annie Clark (James) of Greensboro, NC, Leroy McGuire (Barbara) of Tarboro, NC, Doris Thompson (Kenny) of Halifax, NC, Sandy McGuire (Delores) of Paterson, NJ, Samuel McGuire (Bobbie Jean) of Paterson, NJ, Timothy McGuire (Sylvia) of Tarboro, NC, Florida Jones (Linwood) of Tarboro, NC, Verona McGuire-Powers of Rocky Mount, NC, Bessie Collins (James) of Tarboro, NC, Bruce McGuire (Evette) of Gaston, NC and Wanda McGuire of Scotland Neck, NC; eight brother-in-laws and nine sister-in-laws; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends. Mary was preceded in death by her father, Sandy McGuire, Jr., her brother-in-law, Eddie Powers, all her aunts and uncles except Roberta Wade and Emma Jane McGuire of Scotland Neck, NC and Carrie McGuire of Paterson, NJ.
